April / May trip. Campsite availability?
Hi We are family of 4 from the UK planning our first RV trip across the USA...from New York to San Fransico. The trip will be 19 nights in total and 4000 miles. First night in the RV is 14th April...

This is a 5 week trip .
We did an Oregon to Maine through New York using US Highway 20 .
We spent about 4 days in New Hampshire , Vermont , Maine .
4 days more in Connecticutt , RI and MA .
I really planned ahead and had reservations for every night .
We got off schedule a couple of times and it was easy to phone ahead and Very Easy to change our reservation for a day later .
It went much easier because we had no wasted time for indecision .
We have an exceptional handling setup : 9200# gvw diesel towing a TT with 5300 # on the tt axles .
This is not a trip for an unfamiliar RV in that 19 day time frame .
At some point I think you will need an alternate pilot to drive this thing .
That probably means your wife or oldest kid will need to be comfortable driving an RV for the first time .
No marginal half ton towing a 36 footer will be safe for a trip like this .
For safety I required a nap during the driving day after the first few days .
