Hi We are family of 4 from the UK planning our first RV trip across the USA...from New York to San Fransico. The trip will be 19 nights in total and 4000 miles. First night in the RV is 14th April...

19 nights (20 day) trip across 4000 miles. That would be averaging about 200 miles a day and that will be driving about 3.5-4 hrs a day. Average that is. Now you could drive 500 miles a day in about 8-10 hrs and that will give you an extra day to explore certain areas. Do you have specific stops planned? Hopefully you are not gonna just wing it and see what there is as you come across it. I would think to make this even somewhat successful, that you need to have certain places planned and spread apart to stop.
