End of April still could have snow and cold temps.I would head south and then west.Plenty to see on that route. As many have pointed out, this is a big country and while 19 days seems like a lot, with all the driving you won't be able to see very much.I would plan on 1 day of driving and then a day or 2 days at each location. While you won't need reservations during the week, you may need them on the weekends.I would suggest hit Gettysburg for one day, then south to Washington,DC.Stay at Cherry Hill Campground and take their shuttle into the city.Hit the Smithsonian Institute. That will take all day.More than one day would be better, but you are limited. Then I would head to Huntington Beach state park in South Carolina and do a day on the beach. Then maybe Pennsicola,Florida to visit the naval Aviation Museum. Then maybe San Anonio Texas and see the Alamo, then over to Arizona for the Grand Canyon,to Death Valley in California, then north to see the Redwoods in northern California and then you'll be close to San Francisco.
