Arkansas State Parks

Governor held his daily news conference this afternoon and closed all State parks to any camping, only day use, and that will be restricted access at the discretion of Park Supt. and Rangers. Pinnacle Mountain park will b closed. People can not follow instructions....

I don't see anything about closing Pinnacle Mountain or Historic Washington. Those don't have campgrounds, and Pinnacle can get very crowded anytime the weather is nice.

Crater of Diamonds should have the dig area closed.

Most states are closing parks to day use that I see, but it does not look to me from the web site that they have done so. Hope they close that without closing campgrounds.

Well, they are re-thinking the situation and talking about shutting them down completely. Seems any nice day we get (which are far and few between, with all the rain and storms), people are overcrowding all the trails and public places. Ignoring the "distancing" rules so the talk is closing the parks completely. Sad to see that those that enjoy the use of their units, just sitting around a campsite or fire are denied this pleasure by the "herd mentality".

I mean, it won't fly for camping inside a state park when they're requiring "self contained units only," like right now.

At this time, all campsites remain open. Group camps, cabins, recreation buildings, shelters, youth tent areas and rally camps have been closed through April 30, 2020. Indiana DNR will waive all cancellation or transfer penalties for anyone choosing to change or cancel a reservation (for any facility type) that has an arrival date between March 12 through April 30, 2020.
