Asheville North Carolina area

I will be retiring June 2016 and would like to pull my 30ft travel trailer up to the Ashevile area in July 2016. I am willing to stay somewhere within a 30 minute drive of Asheville and at a place that has FHU, it will be the DW and I, so a pool would be nice but it is not a requirement but I would like a site with a view and possibly on a lake, river or stream. Am I asking for too much? We also would like to visit the Biltmore, kayak and shop. I have already looked at RVParkReviews.com but was not impressed with any of the reviews given. I am hoping some of you may have some suggestions, I won't have to punch a clock so I am not sure how long our stay will be. Thanks.

  • You'll have no problem with the drive and your combo. Just returned from the Smokies and no problems with anything. Stayed at Mama Gerties pulling our old 24ft no problem. Wouldn't forsee any issues with our new Tt. The ecoboost handles all extremely well. Much to do in the Asheville area and Mama Gerties has good access to all.
  • What's the drive like if your towing a 30ft travel trailer? I've driven in the Smokies before but not towing a travel trailer. I know this place is not in the Smokies but I am wondering how difficult the drive is for a guy from flat land Florida.
  • Mamma Gerties view if in upper sites but no pool.

    Mama Gertie's has mountaintop sites. It's in Swannanoa.
    +++10 Doesn't get any better.
  • We have stayed at Campfire Lodgings near Asheville and love the beautiful overlooks of the mountains! There is no pool or game room (I think), but relaxing on the pad, overlooking such splendor is far more to our liking.
