Ashville RV Parks and CG.

We are going to Ashville N.C. in September for a vacation. Does anyone have any experience with the parks or campgrounds in or near Ashville? I know there must be sereral but we would feel better to hear a few reviews from experienced campers. Thanks for your help.
  • Bear Creek is a nice campground but its draw back is its located pretty much in the middle of the I-26, I-40/240 interchange. If you have a well insulated and sound proof unit then its fine. Noise from the roads is dependent on the location of your campsite too so not all sites are noisy. Ours backed up to I-40, about 100 yards away, so we heard the traffic all night. I suggest looking at any park you are interested in on Google earth or Google maps to understand if there are any issues like proximity to roads or train tracks.
  • We've stayed at Curtis Creek CampgroundCurtis Creek Campground. It's a Forest Service campground. No hookups. Vault toilets and access to water. $7/night. Beautiful location about 30 minutes from Asheville.
  • We've stayed at Bear Creek 2Xs. Good experience for us. Very close to town.
  • Campfire Lodgings (Woodfin) is a small RV hilltop park with nice views and not far from town. We stayed there over labor day weekend last fall and would go there again.
  • If you haven't done so, check out RV Park Review for the Asheville area.

What type of campground or RV park are you looking for?

Powhatten Lake is a nice National Forest Service Campground.
