Athens, GA (Univ of Georgia)

Looking to stop in to say 'hi' to my grandson at UGA. Not seeing much nearby for camping. Any suggestions? I'd use Walmart except I want to disconnect the toad for the day's visit.
  • Victoria Byrant is a beautiful park. Who will enjoy it and not a bad ride over the Athens.
  • Thanks all. Pine Lakes was full when I called and Bulldog never returned the message I left. Fort Yargo had no openings for 2 nights. After Athens, I'll be heading towards VA so I looked on the north and east sides of Athens. So last night and tonight I'm staying in Victoria Bryant SP. Beautiful park with great level gravel delineated sites (w/e) Neighbors can be seen but not close. Park includes an 18 hole golf course, swimming pool (not open yet), fishing ponds and lots of hiking trails. It'll be about a 30 minute drive back into Athens for dinner with the grandkid tonight.
  • A friend stays at Pine Lakes in Bishop when he goes for football games and recommended them. There is also an ownership park in Athens called Bulldog Park. They do rent spots outside of Football Season. I had checked on staying there over New Years a couple of years ago, but ended up going elsewhere. I just called the sales number on the website.

I forgot the name of the CG but I stopped for the night and stayed a month! REAL nice CG.
  • I've been looking at Fort Yargo SP, about 30 minutes away though.
  • I looked last December. I found nothing that met my needs in close proximity, so I opted to stay at a motel and just park the rig in their lot.
