We have stayed there 2 or 3 times and enjoyed it. The shuttle bus is very convenient. If you enjoy bicycling, you can take your bikes on the shuttle and then cycle the miles and miles of trails in the park.

Bar Harbor Campground is a favorite of ours, but we liked Blackwoods in the park itself also. No hookups and a little stricter on overall length but we like the no frills places anyway.

Bar Harbor KOA is on the island-it's right after the bridge.

Pros: Well run, clean, fantastic sunsets, lobster bakes/pancake breakfasts on-site, lots of kids activities

Cons: Small sites, price

Only place I'll camp in Bar Harbor.

X2 for Bar Harbor campground

We stayed at Bar Harbor Campground which is on the island. Free shuttle stops there with great frequency. Reasonable prices by local standards. No reservations, no credit cards but they took a check. We had no problem getting a campsite in the middle of the summer.

Lots of other choices, but I'll stay there again.
