Does anyone know if there is any overnight parking allowed in Bar Harbor that are not campground? We'll be in the area in late Oct when most if not all of the campgrounds are closed. I know they have an RV parking area in town but not sure if they allow overnight. Thanks

While not in Bar Harbor, I know the Wally World in Ellsworth allows overnight RV parking. I see several there pretty much every day when I drive by in the summer.

Contact BH Chamber of Commerce. There is a lot in town by the piers/docks.

I second contacting the Chamber of Commerce. Been there many times and there's no overnight parking allowed that I can recall. If you have a toad, the suggestion of overnighting in Ellsworth is a good one as it's not far outside Bar Harbor.

Blackwoods Campground is your answer. They never question me about size this time of the year.

Thanks to all who replied. We are going to stay at Smugglers Den CG in Southwest Harbor. They are open later than any others.

Like most NE campgrounds, it closed Columbus Day and is now closed until May 23, 2018

I agree with Steve, Schoodic campground is very nice. No showers but water and power. Only a few miles from Winter Harbor, nice, quaint town.

You may want to check out the new campground, Schoodic Woods, which is part of Acadia, about a half hour north of Ellsworth near Winter Harbor. Very nice campground and they may be open late - you'll have to check the website. I stayed there two nights in September.

The long bed truck is enough of a hassle on the island. We leave the trailer at Ellsworth.

I was just at Blackwoods last week. Plenty of large motorhomes were there. The Height restriction pertains to the park loop road. Stay on Route 3 and you will be OK. There is some construction on Route 3 so you may be delayed. Have fun.

I have never been to Blackwoods. Could a 37' long 13' tall motorhome get in there without a problem? They say on the web site that there is an 11' height restriction.
