Bayfield wisconsin

We would like to visit Bayfield and wondering about campgrounds to stay at, water hookups not necessary but electric we need, 35ft. Fifth wheel. We have stayed at Copper Falls state park, but it is a long drive and with two dogs we leave them in the camper, but can't be gone for a long day. Any suggestions?
  • Russell Township cg,w/e only, at Little Sand Bay, which is part of the Apostle Island Nat. Lakeshore, I believe there are 2 at Red Cliff, both fhu, Apostle Island cg and Dalyrimple cg in Bayfield itself. Little Sand Bay is about 15 miles from Bayfield, Red Cliff is about 10.

I would strongly suggest reservations, the season is pretty short, usually mid May til mid Oct. Bayfield is a very popular tourist area, especially with kayakers and boaters.

Check out the Bayfieldcounty.org for more information.

We spent three days in the Legendary Waters Resort and Casino campground. We also have a 35' fifth wheel and had a nice site that backed up to the lake with great views. We had water and electric and also left our little dog in the trailer while we took the 3 hour boat ride to tour Apostle Islands. The people in the resort were super nice and we had a fantastic dinner one night in the casino restaurant. The address is Red Cliff, WI but it's really the same as Bayfield. Beautiful area!
  • The nearby town of Washburn has 2 nice city campgrounds, nicer than the private campground in Bayfield. Both are on Lake Superior and about 10 miles from Bayfield. They are first come, first serve, no reservations taken.
  • We like staying at Thompson's West End which is a city campground in Washburn. But, as the previous poster said, they do not take reservations.
