What are the best cg's that my TT can fit and easy in/out and level. Things to do or see is important. We have been to the Jellystone in Marion and was not impressed. I understand Boone KOA is tight and hard to get in and out of. Thanks

Davidson River CG. No hookups, but weather in summer never requires A/C. Plenty of places to fill your fresh water, the bath houses have hot showers, and there is a dump station. The river is right there in the CG - kids can swim, fish, or tube. Plenty of hiking trails right there also. Blue Ridge parkway is right up US 276, Asheville and Hendersonville are within 45 minutes. No 4G, 3G, or 1X, cell is spotty - if you need it, drive 3 miles back towards Brevard to check email.We go here several times every summer, and my kids love it.

Have you been to still creek in morganton? We like it.

We liked Mountain Stream RV Park in Marion. It is right on the river. There is nothing for children though.

On the BRP, and never need AC. We also enjoy Orchard Lake in Saludia. Swimming, small zip line, canoes. Honey Bear in Boone is good IF you get the right site. Close to Boone. BTW. I didn't feel The Boone KOA was hard to get to. But we just drove thru. Nice place though.There is a twisty road to both Orchard Lake, and Honey Bear. But not hard to drive.On the BRP itself. If you can live for a couple days with out Electricity. We like Linville Falls, and Julian Price. Both are high enough up, that no AC is needed or wanted. A huge blanket maybe, but not AC. Linville, is near Linvile Falls, and GrandFather Mountain. JP is near Boone, and Blowing Rock.Another Great CG is Toe River Campground. Has a pool, fishing, playgrounds and tubing. However. You can't tow up HWY 80 to it. You need come in from Spruce Pines.Fact is. the best mountain CGs are not on main roads. So some twistys will have to be driven. Unless, You stay at the foot of the mountain. Places like Steel Creek, Mountain Stream, Yogie in Marion and Green Mountain in Lenoir are much easier to get to. But you will need AC down there. Steel Creek has some cold water to swim in, and a water slide. First come first served.

However, I do recommend that you do not stay in a certain section. The first time we went, I did the reservations online and parked in the spot assigned to me. It was not ideal for our camper that is 35' in length total. The second time, I called them and told them not to put me in the same spot. They put me in a row a couple over and was a lot better. They are limited on their data and the company will freexe their internet for a period of time if they go over that data and its what they use for the business. Plus they give youlogin information that is specific to each site, so they keep track of what you are doing. Along with the rules at check in, they are posted on the bulletin board and the guy walks around with a copy with him. If you have a dog, they must do their business on the gravel and not on the grass because according to their rules, a dogs "business" has germs. (I guess they keep the wildlife from doing their business there as well...lol) They do have a fenced off dog park that is grass that you can use though. Quite time is posted as 9pm on their sign. My daughter and a co workers grandkids were right in front of the sign and about 30' from our campers. At 830, the guy cmae and told them it was quiet time. And the next day, the kids were playing in the stream and tossing some rocks. The guy went in between us and the grandparents and straight to the kids and told them not to throw the rocks. He never once came and said anything to us. They had a pot luck dinner and we didn't go to it. We were already pissed at the guy by then. My co worker and his wife went and they came back and said no one there would even talk to them or eat the food they brought. That is was more like a bunch of regulars that must frequent it. They said they would never go back either. Might be ok for an older couple with no kids.Our favorite mmountain campground so far is Stone Mountain State Park. Along with the right price, the roads and parking pads are paved. There is so much to do in the park. Hiking, fishing, swimming, historical stuff, etc. There is an abundance of wildlife there as well. Outside the park and to the north is the BRP. There are also several great places to check out within 30-60 minutes. Look on our website in the places section. We have done a write up there. Stclairm, if you ever stay at Stone Mountain, drive over to Dobson, NC one day for an early Saturday dinner at The Depot. A great restaurant. On Saturday's if you don't order dessert, they will give you a ticket for a free ice cream over at the General Store next day. Hand scooped that is! We love it there. Matter of fact, we need to go back sometime soon.

We've never been there, but is somewhat of an impression we got from looking at it online. Maybe we will be close enough to drive by and take a look.

As mentioned, Davidson River is nice for a SP experience. If you are in a small rig, you can look at Van Hook Glade near Highlands.

For pvt CG's in the Asheville area, look at Mama Gertie's and Campfire Lodgings. Both of them are nice.

We love Stone Mountain SP and Davidson River.

Raccoon Holler is trashy, with lots of seasonal sites (porches, blue tarps, etc).

Boone KOA is on a steep hillside.

New River SP is practically brand new and is very nice, but small.

Just about as much as mountain cool as you are going to get. It's basically the same temp as Blowing Rock. Cooler than Boone or Asheville. Cooler than Fancy Gap, VA. Just all depends on the weather pattern. Will be in the 60's and 50's this weekend (middle of August) at Stone Mountain State Park according to the weather forecast on weather.com. While Charlotte will be in the 70's and 60's.

Bryson City has Deep Creek Tube and Camping, full hookups, some mtn view, some creekside sites + cabins. Just down the road is Deep Creek, camping in Smokey Mtn. Nat. Park no hookups but great scenery + hiking + creek swimming
Close to town for groceries, etc

Boone KOA is a nice campground, as you said, a little tight but doable...we have a 34 ft 5th wheel and had no problems...saw lots of others from tents to large coaches and everybody was having fun.

We will be heading to Julian Price Memorial Park on the BRP near Blowing Rock this weekend. As of right now, temps will be in the 50's and 60's there. This will be our first dry camping experience.
