I dry camp as much as FHU. Last year I put 428 watts of solar up on the roof for dry camping. DW and I are getting older and moving the Honda 3000i is a chore, especially when walking in loose beach sand. Our first trip with 4 people charging there phones, ipads, laptops. Watching TV and playing there radio and even being lazy using the electric coffee pot instead of perking on stove(due to heat), my two Trojan 125's went down to 70-75%. Late afternoon and without tiltable panels we awere back up to 100%.
I bough the Honda 12 years ago when I would go to work so DW and kids would have juice. Now after solar I wish I had installed it sooner.
I don't run the whole TT off of it. I chased a circuit that runs the bedroom outlets & tv's. Those are powered by a xantrax 2000 watt inverter. I did this to keep the refrig off of electric. I just as easily could have made a receptacle and just plugged in the cord.
It so nice not having to deal with the generator. You also need good batteries. I have Trojan T-125s 6 volt golf cart batteries. They are designed for deep discharge and recharging. You need these, they are expensive but when I sold my other TT after 10 years, they were still going strong. The key is to never let them go below 50% charge.
