Staying at a campground that's not on the beach with the intent of being at the beach makes no sense to me, unless all the others are booked up. It's like saying we are going to go camping in the mountains, but we are not going to be in the mountains, but outside of them. Lol
I agree if it works for your family to be at the beach. I am glad there are options for all that have specific reasons for the campground they select. When we camped at PL it turned out not to work for us we have a son that has autism and the crowds bothered him and he does not really like the ocean. When we found Willow Tree it is close to the beach that we can take the others in the family that want to go to the beach. But the campground has a pool and beach that our son enjoys. So it works for all of us and we get to have a marvelous vacation.
Happy camping no matter where you are. - ependydadExplorer

Not Mrytle Beach, but we do just that at the southern Jersey shore. Partly because there aren't any on-beach campgrounds but also largely due to the "in the woods" feel of the campground itself.
Different strokes for different folks, ya know.

I mostly agree with you WB....but, going to M.Beach might not be the same as going to THE beach at M.Beach. Some folks go down to shop, boat on the waterway, and others even do something called "Shaggin" at Ocean Drive
That's a fact lots of people just like the area, golf courses, dining, and shopping. - dodge_guyExplorer III agree. I'm going there next year and the whole idea is to see the ocean and/or see/hear it from the RV.
Kinda like the people that say the campsites are small and cramped in Yellowstone! Do people really just sit at the campsites all day and nite for days without touring Yellowstone? - OaklevelExplorerA Campground on the beach at Myrtle Beach (almost said MB) is great........There's nothing like getting up in the AM & walk on the Beach at sunrise go back to the RV for breakfast if the DW wants to Shop fine , or what ever, plenty of places to go........ come back walk the beach til ??????? & walk back to the camper..... Ride the Golf Car with the dogs check out all the different RVs & their set ups.............. Enjoy Ocean Lakes for the main reason of can walk the beach when ever we want & ride the golf car were we want.........

- mockybirdExplorerIf you have C2C membership, try Briarcliffe. On Hwy 17 near North MB.. Again, not one on the ocean but in walkind distance of stores and shops at Barefoot Landing.
- love2rvcampExplorerWe stayed at PL before but prefer Willow Tree now as it is less crowded and it fits for our family. Yes I know it is not Oceanfront so for that I would say most of the comments here give the pros and cons of the oceanfront ones. Happy Camping and always enjoy your trip.
