Best route to Cedar Pass Campground

We are traveling from the east coast. Which is the best route into Cedar Pass Campground. We will be driving a 31' RV.

Thanks!

  • The Badlands KOA or Cedar Pass are both convenient if you are coming from the east and want to sleep first and explore the next day. Wall s at the west end of the national park.
  • You can easily drive through Badlands N.P. with your RV. Come in from the east, stay at the campground and then leave through the park heading west. Easy to do. It's a very good road. Cedar Pass is a scenic little campground near the gift shop and store. Reservations aren't necessary because most folks just spend a night in the park. Plenty of sites open up daily. However, if you're planning on getting there after 5pm that might be different. We always try to arrive at campgrounds at 3:00 or earlier. Then we have plenty of time to relax.
  • We were planning on staying at the Cedar Pass Campground, but no reservations. How close is the KOA that you stayed at? Also, did you or anyone check out the Sleepy Hollow RV Park & Campground in Wall? If so, which one is the closest. Thanks for your help. Leaving in a few days.
  • Thanks for your assistance.

How are the roads? Do many people take RV's into the park. We will have a tow car.

We live near the Shenandoah National Park and the roads are excellent and plenty wide and have no problem.

    Thanks!
  • They have hookups now? Wow - what a lifesaver! No way we could hav stayed there when we were at the Badlands, I'd have died. We stayed at the KOA instead (which was shady & quite nice, actually.)
  • Badlands NP, right? Make your way west to I-90 and take first Badlands exit going south toward interior, SD. Simple, easy roads. Campground is inside the park near the Visitor Center. They now take reservations and have electric hookups. Price has increased, but I was glad to have the electricity last Saturday when it was 104 degrees.
