Vogel,state park is also very nice. Hiking trails right in the park and the Appalachian Trail up,the road at Neels Gap. Richard Russell highway is also very nice..
Murphy NC about 30 miles from Vogel is also a nice town with shopping and restaurants. Murphy is about 30 minutes from the kayak finals of the 1996 Atlanta Olympics(Eric Rudolph, the Olympic bomber was caught in Murphy).....
