BLM near Yuma

We are headed from Quartzsite to Yuma to see some friends. We are looking for BLM camping or something inexpensive for a couple of days. We have LTVA permit until the end of the month. Any ideas appreciated

  • Behind the VFW on US 95 just north of Yuma is a 14 day free BLM lot. The VFW has nothing to do with the BLM area except the proximity to the club and many folks from the BLM area do attend the festivities at the VFW.
  • We decided on Pilot Knob ... not very many here. We dumped our tanks at LOVE ... they have water also
  • You can park behind the American Legion / VFW just north of town. It's a lot like BLM parking though I don't know who owns it.
  • You can dry camp at the Quechan Casino, I-8, exit 166. This is the exit to Algodones, Mexico. We spent a couple nights there with several others.

There is no water or dump at the Pilot Knob BLM. Have to pay at the Shell station at the exit to the BLM.
  • The Pilot Knob BLM is west of Yuma....and not a long distance from town. It's part of the LTVA here in Q so you wouldn't have to pay anything. There's also the Imperial Dam one, but it's farther north.
