Blue Ridge Parkway

The parkway is a national park. You won't see anything but scenery. If you want a "local eatery" you will have to leave the park.

As it stands, where do you anticipate geting on, and off? Floyd Va for the Music history can be interesting. Blowing Rock area is interesting as is Mount Mitchell. The Biltmore in Asheville is also considered by most to be a "must see".

the BRP is a pretty easy ride. However. you are wise to think about getting on and off of it. Most of the roads leading to it, Especially on the East side, are pretty twisty, and steep. Also be sure to have plenty of fuel, there are no fuel stops on the BRP. There are some at the exits.
Also bear in mind. the BRP does not go into Tenn. so you will need to find a getoff that leads to a highway going your way. And please don't get in a hurry on the BRP. It goes nowhere fast. Top speed is 45, with drops to 25, and 35. The Rangers frown of going any faster.

But you will enjoy the ride. lots of overlooks. some so quiet, you can hear your heartbeat. if you come down thru Sparta, it is only a couple hours to Boone, and Blowing Rock. Plenty of main roads out of there

Eateries? Yes. Beautiful hotel and restaurant at the Peaks of Otter on the Parkway. A very nice restaurant also at Mabry Mill on the parkway. Both are in the vicinity of Roanoke, VA. About 10 miles north of the Peaks is a waterfall, a short walk from the Parkway.

In the area you are going to, the Winery up at Meadows of Dan is a must do. Actually, its address is in Floyd. Chateau Morrisette - Virginia Winery and Restaurant. You can check out their website. I do like their wines also.

Not true, there are restaurants on the parkway and a few within spitting distance.

We had an excellent meal last fall on the BRP. A hotel restaurant combo just north of Luray VA. Be advised that there is a low clearance tunnel in that area. Our RV was in Luray at the KOA formerly Country Waye. A great place to be BTW.

If you get near Boone, go eat at the Daniel Boone Inn. Great place to eat! Good luck with your trip .
