DW and I are considering a stay at Bluewater RV Resort this summer having never been to the Florida Keys. Prior Florida vacations have been uneventful weatherwise other than being chased home by Hurricane Katrina one year. I realize that winter is the best time to enjoy the keys but that is not possible in the foreseeable future. Any recommendations on the best summer months to visit and any other suggestions for Bluewater or other resorts would be welcome. What can we expect the weather to be like? Should we be concerned about hurricane season? Will be traveling in a 34 ft. motorhome.

May, June and July are better than August-Sept. Weather will be warm in May, very warm in June and will be evener warm in July. Hurricane season rarely gets active before late July and peaks in September. Have fun.

Bluewater is a beautiful resort. We were just there a few weeks ago. I have no recommendations on when to go, just know that even if it is very hot there is a good chance of getting a nice ocean breeze flowing under your tiki hut.Ps. If you haven't already discovered it, try dining at the Square Grouper. VERY nice!

I recommend a site on the bay vs the canal during the warmer months. Much greater chance of a cooling breeze.

This year we are celebrating our 30th anniversary there in Sept. and we again have a waterfront site. I made sure when I made my reservation that they understood that if there is a hurricane I'll have to work (deputy sheriff) no matter where the storm goes. Keeping my fingers crossed there is no storm. The breeze off the water does make it a little more tolerable.

My wife and i will also be there for our anniversary in sept. More info on square Grouper?

Get the FL sunpass for the turnpike. You can do it over the internet. The turnpike is the way to go.

Well, we pulled the trigger today. Made reservations at Bluewater Key for 1st week of June, lot #63. Seems to be a gathering or event scheduled there shortly after we arrive since most lots we requested are reserved beginning June 5. We are looking forward to our stay and if we can might stay longer.
Route planner calls for taking Florida's Turnpike. I have never taken a turnpike in the M/H and try to avoid them whenever possible. Road atlas shows other roads available but they usually add extra travel time. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Traveling from Texas.

Most restaurants in the Keys will cook your catch.

Great seafood. Trendy atmosphere. Just a few miles north of Bluewater Resort.

BWK is very nice. Stay on top of the weather as one can always expect that even a tropical storm could cause damage somewhere in FL. If it sounds serious, get out of town early.
