- tdsxt51ExplorerA few miles down the road from the turnoff on 395 for Bodie, is a small private campground on a small creek. I don't live in the area any more, but for years and years we went to this campground. They have a restaurant that's even open sometimes, a small store, and lots of trout in that stream. We could usually catch a limit without leaving our campsite. If I remember right, this stream comes from Viginia Lakes. Down the road a ways is Twin Lakes campground. A really beautiful place with all the amenities, but LOTS of people. There's really quite a few campgrounds in this area clear down to Topaz Lake at the CA/NV state line. Any of these campgrounds are great places to take day trips from; I believe Lake Tahoe is only maybe an hour and a half at the most. Enjoy the beautiful Eastern Sierras. My grandparents had a place on the Walker River, so I spent my childhood summers up there...
- joloooteExplorerI can't find what kind of rig setup you have, so, be advised that the park is about 14 miles down a very bumpy dirt/gravel road.
- rexlionExplorerYou could boondock for free at Sagehen Meadow, around to the south of Mono Lake. You'd probably be all alone there, like I was.
- frmAlohaExplorerI believe that the closest RV park to Bodie is Willow Springs. It is just 5 miles south of Bridgeport.
- coolbreeze01ExplorerWe stay at http://willowspringsbridgeport.com/ when exploring the area.
- fireman93514ExplorerThere are several campgrounds around twin lakes. There are also some campgrounds at Virginia lakes. June lakes loops has a few camps as well. There are also a few up 120. Our favorite is Oh! ridge in the June lakes loop.
- LaurenExplorerBodie State Park is off Hwy 395 in CA. Best site of it's kind one could ever find - and we have been to many.
We stay at Mona Vista in Lee Vining. Make reservation for pull thru - they are great and only have 10.
Stayed there three times and was to Bodie each time - last time about 2 months ago.
Happy New Year. - kimbo1Explorerso I guess this Bodie is in Ca.?
- RicJonesExplorerIt's a very interesting place and for more days than not, the coldest place in California.
- profdant139Explorer IICheck out forestcamping dot com -- they have some great listings for that area:
Campgrounds near Bridgeport and Bodie
Buckeye is my personal favorite, but the access road is rough and rocky.
