Bodie is a real Ghost Town not some Hollywood idea of a ghost town.

I haven't been there in many years but it is well worth the trip if you like the old west, antiques and old buildings. Spend a few hours and you'll see most of it.

There are campgrounds & RV Parks closer to Hwy 395.

Hitch, do you want hookups or dry camping?

Worth seeing? Yes! And take your camera.

Bodie

This is a high altitude area.

Definitely worth visiting. It is an authentic gold-rush/mining ghost town. Plan to spend at least a full day in Bodie; there is much to see and easy to overlook portions of town if you're rushed. Make sure to visit the cemetery for a real sense of the people who lived/died in Bodie, especially the "Little Angel of Bodie". It's a bit of a bumpy,dusty ride once off main road but well worth seeng. Take a jacket because the winds can blow and it can be chilly at times.

I was there in the early eighties and thought it was interesting. The road going to Bodie was very rough, leave the RV at the campground.

I would also check out Mono lake.

All of the above are correct. Well worth going down the dirt road to get there. If you have a Toad use it to get there, take your RV down that road and you will feel like you filings in your teeth are going to fall out. Wash board road is as close as you can get to a good description of the road. There are several nice campgrounds in and around Bridgeport CA.

I first visited in 1969 before it became a state park. Well worth a visit.

Lee Vining has a RV park. Bodie is worth visiting.

Spring and fall are the best times to visit. Bodie is in the desert, so it gets really hot in the summer months. The road is closed in winter. If you have an interest in American history, Bodie is worth the drive.

Good advice. We were advised when staying near Yosemite to stop there on our way to Tahoe. Great town and history but the guy that told us about it said it's "ok" to pull the fifth wheel in there. WRONG!!! We ended up dropping the trailer at the end of the pavement and "bouncing" into Bodie. It's worth the trip in just be aware it's a rough couple of miles getting to it.
