Bodii. Ca.

Has anyone visited the Bodi Ghost Town in California and if so what is you opinion? Is it worth seeing? Where might be a good campground close by?

    All of the above are correct. Well worth going down the dirt road to get there. If you have a Toad use it to get there, take your RV down that road and you will feel like you filings in your teeth are going to fall out. Wash board road is as close as you can get to a good description of the road. There are several nice campgrounds in and around Bridgeport CA.

    Good advice. We were advised when staying near Yosemite to stop there on our way to Tahoe. Great town and history but the guy that told us about it said it's "ok" to pull the fifth wheel in there. WRONG!!! We ended up dropping the trailer at the end of the pavement and "bouncing" into Bodie. It's worth the trip in just be aware it's a rough couple of miles getting to it.

    Well the road hasn't changed in 40 years since we first visited back in the mid 70's and was far the roughest road I have ever towed over. When we went we were one of only two cars there for the whole day and don't think we even saw the other people from the other car. In fact IIRC we never even saw the ranger if he/she was even there that day.

  • We stayed in Bridgeport (Paradise Shores) and took a day trip to Bodie in 2011. Well worth it if you like history.

    Here are a few pics;

    As others have mentioned...don't bring your rig!!

    We took a bunch of photos including some at the CG and if you would like to view Click Here.
  • There are two ways to get into Bodie. The one we took really wasn't rough although it was gravel.
  • We went there - again! - last fall. Best ghost town in the U S perhaps; now a state park. Well worth the 13 miles of asphalt / kinda rough gravel road in off the 395.

    It is like everyone evaporated into thin air and left everything in it's place.

    For pix go to www.LaurenBarbara.com and the Wanderings link to CA and Bodie.

    Enjoy.
