While I live in a typical suburban subdivision it is bear country. Last summer I forgot to lock the door to the trailer. The next morning the door was open and there were bear prints in the trailer. It had opened a few cabinets and the refrigerator doors. I always remove all food when home and so the bear was disappointed. It did no damage.
A smart, courteous bear.
A friend has a place in your area. She had left her car unlocked one day and that evening heard a bunch of noise outside. When she checked, she found a bear inside her car. It appears it got the door opened and climbed in to check things out, but the car was parked on a slope and with the weight of the bear, the door closed behind it. The bear tried to tear its way out. She called the rangers and they came out and watched saying "I'm not going to go open that door!" Finally the bear managed to hit the door panel (on the downslope side) just right and the door popped open. The car was totaled, the bear left in a panic.
