Our first encounter with bears was in Smokey Mtn. Nat'l Park approximately 60 years ago.
Since then we've camped in many public campgrounds and boondocked in remote areas, including in Grizzly country of Alaska, the Yukon and across Canada.
The bears we saw near our camp spot were all in campgrounds, not in boondocking spots. The bears know where careless folks and food can be found.
Keep a clean site, cook outside if at all possible and away from your place of sleep. Do not cook bacon or other smelly foods, especially in your trailer. You just can't get away from that wonderful bacon smell. If you don't want to mess with the grill, precook your meat at home and freeze it in meal-size packages so you just have to warm it by setting the foil-wrapped package in a fry pan with a little water. It'll taste fresh.
Place your grill in your vehicle, not your RV. Place your cooler in your vehicle, not the RV. Keep all food sealed tight and put out of sight. Bury garbage far from your site. Drive to a place, if necessary to bury it. Burn what you can.
You'll be just fine.
