I get what the OP is frustrated about - he doesn't agree with the entrance fee and finds it "offensive".
However, there are businesses that I do not agree with - I don't expect others to boycott them, I just simply choose to spend my money elsewhere.
As for the $1 entrance fee, I doubt it's due to security, etc. More a way to lessen the number of non-serious buyers clogging up the place.
