Boycott - Arizona Market Place, Yuma, AZ

This past Saturday we went to the Arizona Market Place. They wanted $1 each to "get in". Its not the $1, its the fact they want to charge to buy!

This only happens on the weekends. Thursdays and Fridays are free!

Explanation - we have to pay security, clean-up, blah-blah-blah.

So, vendors are cheated from weekend sales if people won't pay the $1 and customers are cheated if they can only shop on the weekend.

So, I say - stay away.

  • Checked out the web site.
    Place is huge, free parking.
Life must be hard if you quibble over a dollar.
  • can I assume that you do not purchase from Costco, Sams, or BJ's ? ALL charge to buy....

If its only a buck, pay it and forget it.. don't ask others to boycott because YOU don't like it... let the others choose for themselves...

    I don't like Starbucks.. I propose a boycott...!!!!
  • Never been so I can't comment on it's worth, we do pay a pretty penny to go to Costco and Samsclub to shop though. It's your hard earned cash and your decision to make, just skip going on the weekends and go during the week, would be less crowded and easier to get in and out.
  • Most markets around here charge more for parking. Do you have any idea what their liability insurance costs? and their Real Estate taxes? You can't pass it all on to the vendors or you will lose vendors and your selection and purchase costs will go up. Reminds me of when I volunteered with the Activity Director and we raised the price of hot dogs from .50 cents to .75 cents because we were losing money. We were nearly lynched and hung from the Live Oak tree for .25 cents. True Story
  • We go about mid morning on Saturday. Shop a little, have lunch, listen and watch the entertainment. Maybe shop a little more.

I find that the 2 bucks for this is not all that bad.

Man, it’s a buck! Would you rather have no security or people to help with garbage removal. Sounds reasonable to me.
Amazing, the answer now for many who are not happy is to just boycott instead of just making a decision to stay away.

Security, etc. Don't you think they get those expenses from the vendors.

Like I said its the principal.

If its nothing to you, so be it.
