Branson Missouri - suggestions please!

I have to travel to Branson this summer for one of my daughter's dance performance. We will be there 9 days. I have a total of four children and my hubby and myself and a dog. Only one daughter dances and the dance stuff will only occupy a few hours of a few of the days. We tow a 29 foot Four Winds ultralite with my suburban. We've towed this to Florida and Tennessee (from Iowa) in addition to other more local trips, so we are not RV'ing newbies and 'back-in' sites are okay.

Please recommend campgrounds that you have enjoyed that meet our needs:

1. Near Branson 'strip'.
2. Full hookups
3. Not "membership only" - we do not have Coast 2 Coast or anything like that.
4. Fun, outdoors-y stuff to do for all the rest of the family who are not involved/interested in the dance business. Bikes, swimming, hiking, fishing. We probably will try to do Silver Dollar City, but for the most part we are trying to keep our travel expense as low as possible and we enjoy the fun of just 'hanging out' at a nice campground, playing cards, dominoes, etc.
5. Pet-friendly
6. Prefer wi-fi access to keep the non-dancers content on rainy days.

We have never traveled in this area and are also wondering about non-music-strip things to do. Are there caves to tour near this area?

I'm presently looking at Table Rock lake, but it says it doesn't have any 'beach' areas though allows swimming. How does that work?

This will be a 'peak season' summer time trip, so I am bracing myself for heavy traffic and tourism, but would like to hear about any 'off the beaten path' things to do/see.

Thank you!!
  • Join Passport America you will get you money back in two days, there are at least 5 Passport America RV parks in Branson and more in the area. We usually stay at Branson's Ozark Country Campground $20 a night with Passport America. That RV park is 3 miles to strip and 8 miles to Silver Dollar City We have not yet been to a bad park in the area but passport saves us $150 or more every trip up to Branson. Also Google Free things to do in Branson.
