Bringing medicine back to the USA from Nuevo Progreso, MX

I just went to Nuevo Progreso, MX and on my return was asked by a USA Customs Agent, if I had any medicine to declare. This trip I did not, but on some future trip I may want to purchase a Z-Pak. Is this permitted without a prescription?

If I declare estrogen pills they always say you aren't supposed to get meds for someone else. They've never actually done anything about it.

Just tell 'em the Estrogen's for you, 2oldman- that'll shut 'em up! :B

That doesn't sit well with customs at Los Algodones. If I declare estrogen pills they always say you aren't supposed to get meds for someone else. They've never actually done anything about it.

Must be easy to do - When we was working in the Phoenix AZ area a co-worker made many trips to Mexico border town with a list of pills everyone wanted him to pick up for them...

  • We have never had a problem, just no narcotics without a RX. Also Cipro used to be banned, not sure if it still is?
  • yes. Ironically, the greater danger is taking antibiotics when you shouldn't be.
