Brown County Indiana

We're heading out to Brown County State Park very soon for a week and would like some suggestions on what to do and see in the area? I know there is Nashville but would like to know if there are some other interesting little towns, hidden gems, quaint restaurants etc. to adventure to! Thanks!
  • Columbus In is a nice town with architectural significance also Bloomington and IU are close. There are some national forest in the area. Very nice country roads to ride around on. We will be heading to Rockvile IN for the Park County covered bridge fest starting on 10/9/15 for 10 days. Also an outlet mall at Columbus. Have fun!
  • Yellow wood state forest is nearby and has some great hiking trails. If you are staying in the state park there are plenty of hiking trails there as well as a fantastic mountain bike trail.

Lots of shopping and restaurants in Nashville. There are a couple art galleries as well. Plenty of scenic back roads, a covered bridge in Bean Blossom.

  • Oct 1-3, Seymour has a Oktoberfest celebration. Some good food if you like hot potato salad and sausage.
  • Zaharako's old-time ice cream parlor and eatery downtown Columbus is a must see (and taste)!!
  • If you enjoy wine, go to Oliver Winery in Bloomington. Beautiful facility. They carry a huge selection of wines.
  • Lake Monroe on the southeastern edge of Bloomington. You could probably have a picnic in Paynetown SRA, though the CG there may be closed.
