Cable in the RV Park

When I go to an rv park and cable is available, how does it work? Do you plug into your Motorhome, and it comes up on your tv, or what do I need to get cable?
  • Be sure your cable will reach from your rv to the campground's cable box.

If you have the newer HD ready TV sets you will not need the conversion box... We have the Vizio Walmart special's HDTVs in our trailer.

Just plug-in - go to HDTV menu and select CABLE - scan in the ANALOG or DIGITAL channels and watch TV.

Also don't rule out picking up the high def TV from the local town using your OTA BATWING Antenna. These digital signals will be in high def mode for the Natl Broadcast stations (Free to the public). We usually pick-up 6-36 digital full high def HDTV signals just about everywhere we go... Watching the national broadcast channels in full screen high def digital TV is much better quality then watching the ANALOG TV signals coming from most of the camp sites over their analog CABLE channels. We usually do both when at regular camp sites. OTA for HDTV watching the National Broadcast local channels and then switch to cable to watch the cable stations like CNN - Weather Channel - movies etc...

We used to bring along our SAT TV stuff from the house on our trips but since the digital Natl Broadcast HDTV turned out as good as it did we don't bring the DIRECTV SAT stuff with us anymore when camping off the power grid. We watch the local digital station using the OTA Batwing antenna and if we must have to watch some CABLE movie channels we will downstream them over the internet...

Good to read above some camp sites are now showing digital TV verses the old analog TV format. Perhaps these are in High Def (HDTV) mode as well now... haven't run into one yet...
