Camp Wilderness at Carowinds- Charlotte NC

Just thought I'd post up my thoughts after staying two nights. Not a bad place, but definitely needing some renovations compared to most all others I've been too. The bathrooms definitely need reno. They have several somewhat permanent campers in the far left side loop who are Carowinds workers. After seeing how some of them kept their stuff, I opted to stay in the loop where the cabins were. Spot 61 backed to a small creek (may have been water drainage as it rained cats and dogs when I pulled in) and was pretty level. Definitely not a destination CG, but they did have a pool, air hockey, pool table, and a few old school video games. It is directly across from Carowinds, but the only noise that ever bothered us was the truck emptying the dumpster Monday morning. Ray, the gentleman who checked us in, was a complete pleasure and took me around on a golf cart to let me chose my spot. He also drove the shuttle to the park. Great guy. The wifi worked pretty good, fairly low water pressure, no cable.

  • I bought season tickets and it includes parking. Pays for itself if you go at least twice in a year.
  • I would never come close to paying that. I think my two nights did total $82 with taxes. Don't really have much choice around there though. Not having to pay to park at Carowinds made up for it.

Yeah, during the summer it's over $60/night.

    I believed you... I double posted somehow ?? :h :S

  • We stayed there last year for 2 nights ... Our Company has an office just outside Charlotte so when I planned my Florida vacation , I first stopped there in route.. Saved me some vacation traveling time...
I agree that it is not a resort.... Perfect for a night or 2..if you have kids , the location is perfect for the park.. all in all.. it was fine for us and we just booked it again for this year for 2 nights.
  • Thanks for the update...From the looks of it, it's overpriced by about double...
