I can go either way. We have a wood burning fireplace in the house and we heat with it in the winter. We also have a fire ring outside, and do our share of fires at home, roasting hot-dogs and such in the summer. So, when camping, campfires are no big deal. The thing that is most discouraging is the ban on transporting firewood from location to location. Indiana has slacked up, but you've got to bring your wood into state parks from an "authorized" source that's been "approved." When you've got 70 feet of firewood, stacked 5 feet high in some places (single row), and then you have to "buy" crap, wet, non-seasoned wood at $5.00 for 10 pieces or less .... that just really sucks. NO, I will not transport my own firewood. I do respect that and fully understand the potential of introducing contaminated firewood into our state parks, even though I know my wood is good. But the fines ... well ... it just is not worth it. So, it all depends. If I have 2x4 or 2x6's, or construction lumber, I always take that. On occasion I do buy firewood local. So, I can go either way, with a fire or without. Having satellite television kind of makes up the difference for not having a fire!
