Acampingwewillgo, I agree completely that it is a matter of personal choice whether to have a campfire or not while boondocking. But when folks are making that rational decision, they should factor in the issue of liability: if your campfire causes a forest fire, and if the law catches up to you, you can be held liable for the damage done, which can run into the many millions of dollars. I know of some folks who have been bankrupted by the damage awards.
If you are very certain that your campfire will not get away from you, no problem. I have chosen not to take that risk, but reasonable minds can differ.
