using that as an excuse for a RESPONSIBLE Rv'er/camper to Not have a camp fire is a tad over the Top
I am sure that the campers that built that campfire that started the Rim fire thought that they were responsible people, but I my home is only 4 miles from the fire line, on a fire that has been moving at up to 1 1/2 miles an hour, so I am a little sensitive on this subject. The fire has displace thousands of families and all so a few people can have a campfire? I don't get it.
Here again....the fire itself is a tragedy and very devastating, but to say "so a few people can have a fire" Really? Also, I don't call someone having a campfire responsible if they leave a fire unattended/smoldering in a dry,and more importantly, RESTRICTED area.... that's NOT responsible. AS I stated earlier, I know right now, that in most campsites/dispersed camping in the Rim fire area, campfires, charcoal fires and even some propane fires are banned, a responsible camper would Not have tested the waters by thinking they know better...IMHO I certainly understand your position because your in the middle of it all but we'll just have to agree to disagree about the likelihood of an average RV'er(percentage wise) starting a catastrophic event such as the Rim fire.
I hope and pray that you stay safe.....I love that area, we were there 3 weeks ago(Yosemite Lakes)...which I understand, may no longer be their.
