Campground / Marina Combinations

I am looking for suggestions for some nice locations anywhere east of the Mississippi that have a campground and a marina together on freshwater lakes or rivers.

I have a 16 foot fishing boat and ideally would like to find a place where I could put the boat in a slip at the marina for a week or so and then walk down from the RV to use the boat each day.

Even better would be a marina that would launch and retrieve the boat for me. I can (and have) launched with the RV where there is enough room at the launch but its not a lot of fun...

Any recommendations?

Thanks!

  • Christopher Run Campground on Lake Anna near Mineral, VA. They won't put your boat in but it's a nice campground with launch ramps and places to tie up. Lake Anna is warmed by the nuclear power plant. I've heard it makes for great fishing.
  • There are a bunch of them on various lakes in the Fox River Chain near Fox Lake, Illinois.

Alternatively, you can camp in the Fox Den camping area at Chain o' Lakes SP near Spring Grove, Illinois and use the boat launch about 500 feet from your campsite.
  • TVA....TVA....TVA

Most all the TVA lakes in Tennessee have marinas and campgrounds. The lakes are South Holston, Boone, Cherokee, Watauga, Norris and Douglas. You can google them and find lots of campgrounds. Most of these are right off of I-81 or where I-81 and I-40 run together outside of Knoxville, TN.
  • I take it that a view in the morning like this is a wee bit too commercial.

Yes, that is a travelift going by. Had to run outside to make sure they were not about to launch me.
  • Joe Wheeler State Park, Mountain Lakes resort, Seven Points Corps Park. Defeated Creek Corps park Bledso state park. Just a few I know that you can camp and launch a boat. there is a new park in Sevierville Anchor Down Douglas Lake. Take a look Larry
