Campground and activities between Redwoods and Lake Tahoe

planned to take 299 over to Tahoe so your suggestions are perfect. Had some difficulty finding adequate campgrounds around Tahoe so settled on Ponderosa in Coloma.

The western stretch of 299 goes between just north of Arcata to Redding (@I-5); the eastern portion goes from Redding to Alturas where it runs into 395. IOW, 299 is nowhere near Tahoe.

You might want to reconsider the timing; you mentioned "spending a day or two"? If this is the plan, you may never get out of the cab between destinations. :@
