Linda, it would be helpful if we knew what your needs and interests are; and your rig. What parts of UT? You might be meaning Moab area or Zion / Bryce. Lots of miles in between. Same with Sedona and Grand Canyon. If you try and "center" on these places you will be spending more time on the road and very little enjoying them.
We like Spanish Trail in Moab and will be there again this Fall. And Ruby's Inn in Bryce (again this Fall) and there is a good park in Springdale for Zion. For Sedona we stay at / recommend Distant Drums in Camp Verde; used it many times.
If you are coming all this way to SEE the Grand Canyon and not just say you have been there - you want to be staying right at the South Rim. Simple as that...Trailer Village or Mather. North Rim is very limiting in views - see about 10% of the GC and then looking right into the sun as well. If you stay at Williams you will be driving at least an hour and a half to get the the SR and then find parking and all. Or you could take the hokey (& expensive) train ride. In ether case you would be limited to midday viewing at basically one spot. NOT the way to SEE the Grand Canyon - need sunrises and sunsets and shadows.
IMHO.
