Campground (NOT 'Resort') near Scottsdale AZ please

Hi folks! I need a place to stay in or around Scottsdale AZ next Presidents Day Weekend.

We have a small hybrid (expandable) trailer. Our ideal campground has full hookups, trees and decent-sized sites. Need showers too.

We don't need "resort" amenities and are hoping to not have to pay snowbird resort fees. Just looking for a quiet place to stay for 3 or 4 nights for the horse show.

Can anyone recommend a place? Thanks for your help!
  • McDowell Mountain Regional Park in Fountain Hills. Electric and water. Dump station. Clean showers and bathrooms. Huge campsites. Great hiking, mountain biking and big views in a very uncrowded desert setting. It is about a far from an RV resort as you can get. About 30 minutes from downtown Scottsdale. Check it out on rvparkreviews.com

You can make your reservations six months out and suggest you do because it is full in peak winter season.
  • I am not aware of any RV parks like what you describe in the Scottsdale area. Look in surrounding areas that will provide you with easy, min. traffic cluster back ups. Most RVers call Scottsdale "Snotsdale" home of the rich:)
  • When we were visiting my husband's aunt in Scottsdale, we stayed at Usery Mountain Regional Park, which is exactly what you want, except it is not in Scottsdale, but we found it an easy drive. It was lovely! It is east. There was another regional part a bit more north east. Check out Maricopa County Parks.
  • Check out Allstays.com for that area. They will have most right down to freebie BLM.
  • There are some boondocking places near the horse show arena but that is about it. Unfortunately, this is snowbird season and the rates are what they are, this is The Valley of the Sun in high tourist season. BTW we are getting around 90 degrees as a high now. you could try http://www.roadrunnerlakeresort.com/features.html
