Campground recommendations in Ky

Well, I think we are going to stay at the KOA. Its not set in stone yet, but thats what we are leaning towards.
We have a new/used rig, and this will be our maiden voyage with it.
We are going to the Jim Beam Distillery and most likely the Makers Mark.
Then one day we will go to Louisville to the underground zip lines. Then one day down to Cave City, all close enough from the KOA to drive

We will be headed down there on April 1st and staying a week and a half, cant wait!!

We have stayed a few times at My Old Kentucky Home S.P. It is in a great location. The sites are paved and although they look level - most are not! The Bourbon Center is very close by and definitely worth a visit - it is very well done - and free. We have been there in late March and the park was almost empty.

I'm with Bakerkids! Maker's Mark rocks! Buffalo Trace is a great bourbon too but not on the Bourbon Trail when we were there!

IMO, Maker's Mark tour was the BEST!

We stayed at My Old Ky home state park in July of 2011 and had friends with us who had a rig as long as yours. I would suggest you try for space 21 because as you enter the park you will need to make an immediate right to go around to the back of the park. Because of the length it is tight in several of the spaces to the front and the angles are a bit steep toward the front of the park but you should be able to pull up the drive and back in fairly easily to space #21.

We had the best time at this park and you will too! Also if the wife is into wines the way us wives were you can do the Bourbon Trail and combine it with the Ky Wine trail like we did! We had a blast! Also check out the museums there in Bardstown, wow what history!

Another vote for My Old Kentucky Home state park. There is a private campground as well, White Acres, but I'd recommend the state park.

My Old Kentucky Home State Park Campground is your best bet. You can reserve your spot on the Kentucky State Park Website. This is one of our favorite parks and where we stay when we go to Makers Mark.

Check out Bardstown and My Old Kentucky Home State Park. It has FHUs according to RV Park Reviews.com. We used to stay in Bardstown when going to the Kentucky Derby and visited the campground. It's nice and right next to a beautiful golf course. There are other distilleries in the area. We visited Maker's Mark, which is not far south of Bardstown.

Jim Beam is right off I-65 and the road to Bardstown. BTW, Bardstown has the Bourbon Festival, but I believe it's in September. Nice little town.

I saw the koa. Grandmas campground had a few reviews that turned me off from it. I dont mind driving a little to the distillery, I do want to stay within an hour from there

Kentucky Horse Park near Lexington, may be a bit of a drive.
