I just talked to a campground we were going to make a reservation at and this is what I was told. "We are a first come campground. Your reservation saves a spot in our campground for you. However, we do not guaranteed you can fit in the sites that are available when you show up. If you cannot fit in the available sites then you are out of luck."Your reservation fee is not refundable.Is this common? I have always had the ability to reserve a site I can fit in. Not necessarily the numbered site I want, but always one I can get fit into.

I would not go to any RV park that was willing to take my money and not guarantee me a suitable site for when I arrived. And would not refund my money if none available. A good place to avoid. Would like to know just where that is.

I would find someplace else; but only after I told him to put his campground "where the sun don't shine".

Some state and municipal campgrounds operate that way, and maybe private ones as well. If that process does not work for you, then you will have to make other arrangements.

If it's a "first come" campground, why do they take reservations? I'd file a chargeback on my card if they tried that cr@p with me.

If you are looking for a campsite in Wisconsin, oh my! Pass this one up! Wisconsin has so many really great state parks and private parks too! Go somewhere different!

Sounds like a TT Park. Those are the only rv parks we have run into with that particular situation

Yeah, but the not refunding the reservation deposit seems weird.

I do agree- that up until that point, it sounded like Thousand Trails.

For the OP... even though, when do you want to go? Is it a busy time? It's probably a fair gamble that you'll find something suitable.
