campground suggestions

I have been to Springhill, and it's pleasant. You can get a site with a water view (in loop A, IIRC) if you wish.

Petit Jean is one of my favorites. Plenty of hiking trails, a waterfall, high overlooks, interesting rock outcroppings, and a nice bit of history. I've taken my granddaughters there twice and they are asking when we can go again. Here they are, along the Bear Cave Trail at Petit Jean:

In MO, Roaring River SP is close to AR (about 15 miles)and OK (about 35 miles). Nice quiet trout fishing park capable of handling large rigs, primitive campers and all in between.

Hot Springs NP has a wonderful campground.

x 2 for Lake Catherine SP. They have a nice swim beach if you're going during the summer. Clean bathrooms and shower facilities.

Crater of Diamonds State Park is nice.

Lake Catherine State Park near Hot Springs is very nice.

Also if you are going to be close to Mena then I would recommend Queen Wilhelmina state park.

I would recommend Aux Arc COE Park at Ozark, AR. Ozark is about 30 East of Van Buren on I-40. The park is about 1 miles south of Ozark on AR Hwy 23. Sets right on the River next to the Lock and Dam. Electric H/U only, but last time I was there you could dump gray water using a garden hose.
