Campgrounds in the Long Beach, CA area

Golden Shore is kinda expensive, as it is the only full hookup campground within Long Beach that is not also part of a Mobil Home park.
Be sure to google map the locations, and then look at them with Satellite view. Do you really want to stay there? Golden Shore is great, and has a LONG waiting list. I think it is also around $50 - %60 a night?
You might want to look around Disneyland, and the parks near there in Anaheim. You can take the car to Long Beach, it is straight down Katella to Willow Ave, and on to whatever destination you have in Long Beach. I used to work for CLB and lived near Magnolia and the Garden Grove Freeway.
There are a couple of small RV parks, but also they are part of a mobile home park, so I would not highly recommend them to a stranger. .
The nice RV park near Knotts Berry Farm, where I stayed when having my termites taken care of, is no longer there, turned into another shopping center. .. Like we really needed one of those?

Rush hour starts around 4 am on the 91 freeway - mostly going westbound. Eastbound is fine until around noon, when it starts to pick up traffic. It gets really heavy eastbound around 2 pm until 7 or 8pm. No kidding! Westbound is find after about 5 pm. More live out of town, and commute into Orange and LA counties.
Long Beach does have some gang problems. Stick to the major streets, and avoid the west side north of 7th st after dark, you should be fine. It is also home to many hundreds of million dollar homes, then 5 miles away are slums. Go figure??
