Campgrounds near Denver that do not permit campfires

Where, within two or three hours of Denver, are campgrounds that do not permit campfires, preferably with hiking trails and electrical hookups?
  • You know, it has been some time since I actually saw a campfire in an RV park. We used to have a community fire years ago, but so many people have problems with smoke and the associated odors we don't even suggest it nor do we have one. Many if not most USFS CGs don't allow them. Not sure about state campgrounds
  • Nasty comments are not necessary. Some of us have issues with campfire smoke due to breathing issues or we just don't like the smell. That doesn't make us bad people. Some of you on here lately should really really REALLY think about the saying "if you can't say anything good then don't say anything at all". The disrespect is out of control.
  • You'd have better luck if you stayed in a RV park rather than a public campground. Most campgrounds allows campfires unless there's a fire ban area-wide.

To answer your question, IIRC, all of the RV Parks/Campgrounds inside Estes Park city limits prohibit open fires. I know that Elk Meadows,Paradise on the River, and Spruce Lake prohibit. Estes Park Campground at Mary's Lake and East Portal do allow campfires, as they are located outside city limits.
  • You are getting sarcastic comments right off the bat. I understand your position. Although I do like an occasional campfire, they can also sometimes be irritating, especially if someone has respiration issues. And/or when someone else's fire smoke drifts directly into your camp site making it difficult to even be outside. I do try to judge having a fire based on how close others are and where the wind is blowing.

But it may be difficult to find any campground that prohibits campfires altogether. But as stated above, likely many will ban them as summer settles in. Otherwise, RV parks may be about the only option.
  • Give it a few more days and they will all ban fires due to the heat and dry weather.
