Campgrounds near Providence, RI

We are planning on attending a conference in downtown Providence, RI in June 2016 and are wondering where the closest place is to camp. We are a 40' motorhome pulling a Chevy Colorado truck. Thanks for any and all advice and suggestions!!

  • Thanks for the replies folks! Appreciate the feedback. We figured we'd have to drive about 20-30 minutes but that's okay. Much prefer sleeping in my own bed than a hotel, even a nice hotel. Think we missed RI on our tour around the U.S. in 2009 so hopefully while we're back there this year we can see a little more after the conference.
  • Fisherman's just expanded/improved a couple of their areas last year also.

  • x2 on Fisherman's and Normandy Farms. Both really nice. Fisherman's has both electric and FHU sites, some with some nice shade. Unless you end up in the overflow area, Normandy Farms' sites are really nice & shady. (And large.)
  • State Line SP on the RI/CT border.
Fisherman's SP in Narragansett (Pt. Judith)
Normandy Farms is in Foxboro MA, but it's straight shot down I-95 to PVD, probably 20 minutes and it's against the traffic. The place is huge and plenty of pull-through sites.
  • Pickins are slim close to Providence. It has been a few years but last time we were visiting somebody in the area we stayed at Burlingame SP. Big CG. Dry camping. Nice enough.
