- mjmaddoxExplorerAnother vote for Pohick..was perfect for our week touring. Never had any traffic issues getting to the metro or commuters filling up the decks. Reasonable price..quiet and relaxing after a busy day touring. We didn't need the amenities at cherry hill and didn't want to pay for them..would definitely stay at Pohick again.
- jayco304ExplorerI have used Pohick Bay on two of our trips. Worked fine for us. Just down the street a few miles we caught the Metro.
- wbwoodExplorerWe will be staying at cherry hill next spring. Since we won't have a car, it's the best option for us. And as far as the flat rate, I understand they have 3 type of sites : rv, pull through, and premium. Their rates are $62, $67, and $72 respectfully. That's for 2 people. $5 for each additional person according to their rates web page.
Edit: said you when it should of said us. - D___MExplorerClick here and you will be taken to a blog page that was created by a fellow camper and has some useful information about most of the campgrounds around DC.
Cherry Hill is very popular with the pilgrims. Close to the mass transit, close to grocery shopping and restaurants, easy access to I-95. They are just wrapping up a big expansion project. - dahkotaExplorerIf you can get by without HU, Greenbelt Park is your best bet. About 2 miles from metro, large spaces with lots of trees and quiet, and only $16 per night.

I just spent 5 months working in the DC area...all I can say is I am not ever going back...I looked ad nauseum for a nice place to stay that was not ridiculously priced. The best deal I found was at The Harpers Ferry KOA. It is a solid hour to town from there though...
Regards
I wish i would have known you were staying in harpers ferry..i'm in brunswick..would have been nice to stop by and meet the man who alerted the world about the 6.7 hpfp issues in fords..:) - TaplepExplorerwe stayed at Pohick Regional Park when we were there during the Cherry Blossom festival--5 years ago in a pop-up. Park has W/E and clean showers. We drove to the Franconia station, parked in the shopping mall and rode the Metro to Downtown DC. Very easy to do and inexpensive.

Regards - The last few times we've gone to WDC we've stayed at Prince William Forest in Dumfries, VA. Short drive to the metro. It's a quiet concessionaire run park in the National Park Service. Full hook ups $35/night.
Prince William Forest.
We've stayed at Cherry Hill before. Too crowded and noisy for us. Don't expect a quiet stay. It's at the junction of I-95 and I-495.
We've been thru the one in Manassas but haven't stayed there. It looks good. - VeebyesExplorer IICherry Hill seems to be popular in spite of the price but it is not the only game in town, or near town.
To the SW is Manassas where nearby the battleground, for those interested in such history, is a very nice county park. Nowhere near Cherry Hill prices & not too far from free parking at the end of the train line. Also close by is the Air & Space Museum at the S end of Dulles Airport. Far better than the one downtown.
