Camping in NJ & PA

We live on Long Island and to get off the Island is just horrible. Last year going southbound on the BQE which has car swallowing potholes we couldnt avoid one and launched both right side hub caps. They probably flew through one the apartment windows!. This being stress full no matter what time of day, we would like to try to just get off the isalnd and find a closer place to just chill, then start the drive the next day. As well as I wouldnt mind spending some mountain time in PA. We camped a couple times at Drummer Boy in Gettsburg which was a KOA. Thanks for your thoughts

  • My friends go to Granite Hill in Gettysburg, also heard that J&D Campground near Knoebels is nice. I have to miss our Rickett's Glen trip but really want to visit that place. Nice hiking and waterfalls...

  • You've got to try Rip Van Winkle Campground in Saugerties, NY. This is one of our favorite places. It's only a couple-hour drive for you. My friend, who lives in Bellmore, goes there just about every chance he can.

  • How about a campground around Lancaster, a great place to chill.
  • Twin Grove Campground is nice.
It's located near the intersection of I-78 and I-81.

The former Lickdale, now Jonestown KOA is very close to the intersection of I-78 and I-81.
I have never stayed there but, I have been told it's a nice campground.

These may be a little farther than you want to drive the first day, I'm not familiar with any CG's in eastern PA.
    Someone will have more suggestions.

    Enjoy your travels.
