Camping in Rhode Island or Connecticut

I would love to hear about your favorite places to stay!

Is it close to the shore? I have not had a chance to look into it yet. Sounds interesting.

Everything is RI is close to the shore. LOL.

We stayed there in our 36 motorhome in n open site pull through. We rode our bikes (less than a mile) into Point Judith and got on the ferry over to Block Island. We rode out to the light house and had a drink on the veranda of the old hotel.

Have some "chowda" at Iggy's Doughboys in Point Judith.
  • We have stayed at Fisherman's, KOA Mystic, and Aces High. Fisherman's has no pool but are putting in new bathroom facilities. Close to beaches, could bike ride. Not all sites have full hook ups if that is an issue for you.
We liked Mystic so much that we got a seasonal site for one summer. Eight mile to Foxwoods and close to vineyards. Close to the Westerly RI beaches, but you would have to drive to beach.
Aces High has a swimming pond.

Also hear good things about Aces High which is owned by the casino. Never been there though......

Now, where did that come from......can't believe that for a second.....chuck

New place. Ashaway RV resort. Suppose to be opening soon. They are behind due to the bad winter weather.

Where is this new campground located ?...Chuck
  • Simply put - ROCKY NECK STATE PARK IN CT. Great sites with manicured exotic(as I judge them) trees, etc. 1/2 mile nature walk to beach, or drive there and park.

    Enjoy.
  • We have stayed at Aces High a couple of times while in Connecticut. 20 to 25 minute ride to Mystic Seaport.
  • We stayed at the Mystic Koa. Great location and was really nice esp for a KOA
  • Ashaway RV park opened May 1st. It's on Rt216 about 3 Miles south from exit 93 off I95, on the left across from Pete's store. Also try Charlestown Breachway state camping, you'll be rite on the beach. You can only stay for a limited number of days though. One of our little secret spots here in Charlestown.
