Camping on the beach

Looking for a camp ground/resort on the Gulf Coast of Florida that is also on the beach.
If anyone has stayed in, or knows of such a place I could sure use the help. Too make matters worse, we would like it to be in the middle to upper part of Florida.

All ideas welcome.

Thanks,
Andy

Agree...Grayton's location and availability to the beach was better. But Topsail is much nicer. If Grayton would either put the full hook ups to the older section amongst the vegetation and shade, it would be ideal. The new section with the full hook ups are out in the open and nothing but a hot gravel pit. But it beats paying $100+ and being packed in at Camp Gulf.

  • If you want the camper parked directly on the sand of a Gulf Beach, Red Coconut on Ft. Myers Beach is for you.

  • If your looking for a state park there are several of them in the panhandle part of the state. Personally I like Grayton beach, St. Andrews , Big Laggon , st Joe peninsula. There are alot more and all offer different things. Most are not right on the beach but the beach is a short distance away from campground.
  • I do not but we camp on the beach and it's to far to walk so there isn't much foot traffic where we love. Just look at my sig!

Ive only stayed right on the beach just one time. Way too much foot traffic for my liking... This goes on 24 hours aday haha... This is not my style of camping...

I would rather be back off the beach tucked back-in under some trees like down at Hunting Island Beach does it near Beaufort, SC... You get alittle more privacy doing it this way... Then you can take your beach blanket and chairs and hit the beach all you want to...

  • My experience has been that Florida's beachfront is dominated by high rise hotels. I stayed in a KOA east of Pensacola a couple of years ago. The road they were on was 20 miles from the beach, but there was public access amid the hotels. The beach property itself has become too expensive to limit it to ground level camping. What Florida needs is multi level high rise CGs. :)
When I was in the Navy stationed in Pensacola 40 years ago, the beach was nearly empty of buildings of any kind.
  • Recently stayed in Panama City Beach and you walked across street one to block to beach. You can't see beach but very nice campground with large paved sites and easy walk to beach. Destin is right on beach but no pets/sewer if you stay direct on the beach. Further back is fine but sites are really tight.
