Campsites near San Francisco

The SF hotel sounds like the best idea. And new visitors to San Francisco would probably enjoy the experience of the transportation system. I have friends in the mid west that say BART and the street cars, cable cars and trollies where one of the highlights of the city. I will insure you that driving an RV around the city would not be an experience they would treasure.

Another thumbs up for the KOA in Petaluma. The CG in Pacifica is a hard slab of concrete, with very little space. Yes, you can back right up to the ocean if you can get one of their oceanfront sites, but that is the ONLY nice thing about the place. For us the close quarters make it a no.

We liked Treasure Island in South San Francisco -- convenient location, near the Bart. Just a parking lot, really. The reviews on rvparkreviews.com are not good, but I can tell you that it did the job for us, just fine. Not a resort by any means!!

Stayed in Vallejo and took the Ferry to the city. Worked very will for us.

x2 nice campground we stayed there and took the Larkspur Ferry in, worked out nice as right outside the terminal was lots of street cars.

We stayed at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton. Nothing fancy but a nice town with good restaurants within walking distance. Also close to BART for trips into the city. Much more reasonable than other RV parks in the area.

no such thing in the City. they'll have to go outside the City to find a campground. and they wouldn't want to drive the RV in the City anyway.

the closest would be San Francisco RV Park in Pacifica. they advertise that it's only 15mins. to SF but that's a fantasy. also not cheap.

the Petaluma KOA and the Alemeda County fairgrounds are the next closest.

next would be Napa, which has two RV campgrounds.
