Campsites near San Francisco

We have friends from South Africa coming to visit next May, 2015. They want to rent an RV for a month in San Francisco and travel the west, dropping it off in Denver or returning it to San Francisco. We would like to have an RV site booked for them close to SF so they can easily get into the city and the Bay Area attractions. Any recommendations for a decent campground? Thanks.

    We went a few years ago when our daughter lived there and we stayed at the KOA in Petaluma. It wasn't a bad drive back and forth, but a hotel would be closer.

    I'd get a nice Hotel downtown to visit SF then take off in the RV. Easier and cost probably not much different.
