My take, FWIW, I tend to agree with those who believe that it's been a massive, media driven, "one size fits all" approach, applied to what should have been a case by case, or state by state, province by province, country by country, situation.
So far, there is no vaccine, there is no cure. If you catch the bug, you will either live or die based on your current physical condition and ability to weather the most common and damaging SARS 2.0 symptoms.
That's the current sitrep.
So, unless you plan to remain isolated from the rest of the contagious world indefinitely, aka to live the rest of your life in a bubble, you will eventually come out of hiding, and you will eventually be exposed to someone, or something, that has it. You are simply delaying the inevitability of that scenario.
Even if you stay in hiding, the virus may find you, on a roll of toilet paper, some sort of packaged food, a can of soda, a bottle of beer, a postal letter or flyer in your mailbox, an Amazon/eBay or other online purchase, aka through touching something that an infected and/or asymptomatic person has touched, and that wound up in your possession by whatever route or means. You can't prevent it, no matter how careful you are, unless you stay in the zero external contact bubble forever.
When that happens, if you are otherwise healthy, you should survive.
If you are very old, feeble, have any of the underlying conditions, like obesity, diabetes, COPD, or the rest, maybe you should stay inside until a vaccine is available, but that would be your choice.
I choose to get the world back to it's pre-Covid state as soon as possible. I'm an older person with at least one extra underlying condition, for perspective. I'm not waiting for a vaccine that may never happen. If you're afraid or not afraid of catching it, make your stay home or venture out decisions accordingly.
These are my thoughts and opinions only. Yours may differ. I accept that, and expect the same.
